Re: General Queries About REPRINT and SPECIMEN overprints

Hi John, Thank you very much for the information on the Provinance of these stamp back 50 years ago. Specimens were well frowned upon then which supports the case for legitimacy. I am very happy to have reunited the missing 6d to the "small specimen" collection, for my sense of completion, yours and...

Re: General Queries About REPRINT and SPECIMEN overprints

I bought these cut down Specimen die proofs on card several years ago from an ebayer in Tasmania. Unfortunately the 3d never made it via Registered Post and is the ebay picture. (If it ever turns up give me a call :) These may be ex Tinsley. I was wondering if anyone has other Specimen examples as ...

Re: General Queries About REPRINT and SPECIMEN overprints

Hi Ross,
I couldn't find the link on this site referring to the small Specimens, but kept some documentation myself:

Re: General Queries About REPRINT and SPECIMEN overprints

Here is the rest of the set. I could understand the use of a recognisable Specimen forgery, but wouldn't these be a bit obvious unless Tinsley's ego demanded something personal?

Re: General Queries About REPRINT and SPECIMEN overprints

Hello, This Tablet with the small Specimen, assumed to be ex Tinsley and possibly unique could well be the value mentioned as missing from the "near complete" set I was lucky enough to buy on ebay some time ago. I found it on USA ebay from a Canadian dealer. What are the odds? Anyway I hope it is of...

Re: General Queries About REPRINT and SPECIMEN overprints

Hi Ross,
My apologies not checking the site earlier. The stamp is thin paper and I cannot detect a watermark. I have shown it to Bill LS but we couldn't find a Specimen type to match it.
I was just a bit hopeful there may have been another about, but it is more than likely a forgery.
Cheers
Mark

Re: Dragons printed on gummed side

Hi Dave,
The picture shows the front and back of both stamps, so I guess they are both kiss prints?

Re: General Queries About REPRINT and SPECIMEN overprints

Here is a mystery Specimen. Possibly a forgery, but I haven't got another to compare with so any information would be appreciated.

Pictorial Specimens No stop after Specimen

Hi, Iam a keen Tasmania Specimen collector and over the years have collected all the Pictorial values apart from the 1d with no stop after specimen. Does anyone have any info on the number of this variety per sheet. There is also a slightly less difficult variety with a clearly broken Captal "C" in ...
