Gary

Looking at what i have in my collection it should be clean and not toned, i have both mint & used with both showing the same paper colour, you may have an unwatermarked reprint to match it to.

Cheers

Re: 6d dull lilac imperf on large star wmk

OK i am talking to myself here now, i decided to scan the back to show the board and now notice a central hinge, so some dill has cut them into singles and kept them together. Ross Re buy one get one free, i got both free as they were undescribed in the lot from Cavindish the same lot i brought the ...

Re: 6d dull lilac imperf on large star wmk

Yes Ross there is two. I never put the other one up at it is a bit grubby and needs a bath but having another re look at them they appear to fit together as a rejoined pair. Think this now adds to them, they will look good on a page! I have scanned and brightened them up for a better look. star2.jpg

Re: 6d dull lilac imperf on large star wmk

Talking with several specialists of Tasmania and by private communication of the specialists on this board the star wmk copies I have would appear genuine. Can others provide scans of other known copies please. Dave

Re: 6d dull lilac imperf on large star wmk

Thanks David

So i have either a wmk forgery or a genuine copy.

Do you or does anybody have a 6d on star wmk which can be loaded up to compare colour etc.

Provenance of the above copy came from the Dr. James Kyle C.B.E., F.R.C.S., F.R.P.S Collection.

6d dull lilac imperf on large star wmk

In a recent arrival of a Tasmania collection there was 2 x 6d dull lilac, imperf, on large star wmk. Call me a dreamer but apart from the obvious forgery aspect does anybody know if the 6d on large star mentioned in notes in SG below sg18 actually had CANCELLED on them or were they released mint? Re: Private separations on Chalons

A recent buy 1863-71 6d grey-lilac Oblique roulette approx 8 [SG 55]. Will put up a better scan when I get it.

I just wonder if it’s a forgery?

Your thoughts thanks panel.

Re: Compound perfs on Chalons in Basset Hull

Jeff Not to confuse this more but when you say "The last vertical row has been missed" i presume you mean the far right and not the left? if so then put me down for P.11x11x11x11.8. Dave

Re: Pictorial issues printed in Melbourne

I think the paper size covered 4 panes so two plates [pairs] were done in a single opperation then turned and another pair done. Dave

Re: Pictorial issues printed in Melbourne

One would think it would be easier to just pre cut the paper prior to printing rather than chance smudging the wet ink upon turning the sheet and re feeding it into the machine.

Garrett Station Name Flaws

In a recent lot of Garretts i have brought there was the below HOBART with a short RT has this been recorded or seen before? Nice lower left frame break which may help to plate this. In Owen Ingles full sheet of the 9d this frame break is not evident.
