Thanks to Malcolm G and the images he has provided I can now state that the "Don" mss comes both as "River Don" and "Don".

Re: EARLY MANUSCRIPT CANCELLATIONS - POST IMAGES/ANY QUESTIONS??

Here is a question to those more knowledgeable than myself on MSS cancellations prior to the issue of 2nd Allocation BNs. Does the "River Don" mss also just have a "Don" mss, or does the "Don" image shown below represent a partial mss? Don mss 1860.jpg I have shown two full "River Don" mss for refer...

Hobart Pillar Receiver Type 1(x) cds

I would just like to put out for comment an image of the above cds without the "R" in "P.R." at the base of the cds. Hobart Pillar Receiver No R.jpg The absence of "P.R." is noted as omitted in Hardinges Compendium for this but not a partial omission. Date of that know omission was 2.1.1900. As the ...

Re: Launceston Code K Cancel Variety

Hi Jerry, I had to have a think about this one but I think that the code is just inverted as it is not possible to reverse a code. Tried it on paper before replying. This code is not symmetrical and the lower stroke of the "K" extends from the upper stroke of "K" near the downstroke. Inverting the c...

Devonport West cds R2a(x)(ii)

This rubber cds with the "West" removed has a late use date of 28.12.1933 in Hardinge's Compendium. However in the image shown it has been used to cancel a 3d Centenary of the Settlement of Victoria which was issued 2.7.1934. Date of the cds is 31.10.1934 so this pushes it out a further ten months. ...

Thanks Jerry and Pete,

I meant to say it was used on ship mail from Tasmania to Melbourne but I have obviously lost the plot. As they say never proof read your own work.

Found this rather poor partial Burnie cds and had it sorted into my Type 1(solid stops)(i) but that cds has a late use date of 2.9.1901 against that of AP 17 06 on the image shown. The "T" perforation on the engraved De la Rue 1d Pictorial is an interesting subject. I have attached an image of one used at Lagunta in March 1910.
