Re: New Post office Savings bank & Money Order Office datestamp (?)

The post prompted my memory to look for an example I remembered from 1980's

Sadly I do not know it's whereabouts or contents.

Major flaw on 1d Mount Wellington dated 1912

I recently discovered this significant flaw in the sky above mount Wellington on copy from plate 5 or 6 used in January 1912

Has anyone seen a similar example?

A scene of timber cutters posted at Premaydena and the message mentions cutting beams at Koonya - so I am guessing somewhere on Tasman's Peninsular?

Would value any information about this parade at North Hobart Oval in front of a group of dignitaries - maybe the Duke of York?

Re: Lettercards and PS Envelopes with CTO Datestamps

I believe the letter cards with CTO cancels are probably for distribution to Parliamentarians or other dignitaries. The UPU certainly do not have any in their collection so I doubt they were sent to other UPU members. The Pictorial envelopes were sold out very quickly in 1898 and so I doubt that the...

TARLETON can now be listed as known used in 1892.

This postal card just sold on eBay Ties the previously unrecorded date stamp to BN 139

The message on the card refers to a delivery of coal and the only business operating at Tarleton in 1892 was a coal mine

I think Jerry is correct. I have seen it on parcels as part of a large roller cancel. I do not have any scans unfortunately but this example either reads 'No 6 ' as in numeral 6 or November 6

I believe that the hand stamp '4' was used at Macquarie Plains not Macquarie River.

I was almost going to suggest that Ross and Macquarie River were connected but Admins research is far more convincing

I will try and locate the date for the Taylor's Bay postal card.

The '67' cover was written up by David McNamee in his collection as September 1854 but no day.
