Re: UNRECORDED DATESTAMP VARIATIONS - ALL ERAS - POST HERE!

Relief Stamp Type 4a in Violet. Any ideas re this? I thought that a numeral had not come through on the strike, but the text "Relief Stamp" is in smaller type than the numbered postmarks. Likewise the positioning of the text does not really allow room for a numeral. The date (I think) is 6 OCT 1959....

Re: POST 1912 DATESTAMP INQUIRIES - ASK QUESTIONS HERE !!

Launceston Type 2b(ii), 2bT(iii) and 2bT(v) postmarks. I am finding these very confusing as they do not seem to fully fit the descriptions in Hardinge. 2bT(ii) seems to fit the dates and the bars are 4.5 mm long But the 'e' in Launceston is not small and the time has been barred out. 2bT(iii) Seems ...

Re: POST 1912 DATESTAMP INQUIRIES - ASK QUESTIONS HERE !!

Launceston R6a(xv) It appears that one of these examples is unlisted ion Hardinge. They cannot be R6a(xiv) as the letters are not particularly large and the dates are too late. Therefore one of these is the R6a(xv) and the other is a variant. The size pof the postmarks are different and the 6 is cur...

Re 1/- Platypus Revenue. 2 Sep 1902 Can anyone recognise the postmark 'STAMP A..' ?
I feel that it is probably an internal Revenue marker and not a genuine postmarker.

Re: NEW DATESTAMPS - LIST ANY 'POSSIBLES' HERE

Orford R8. This postmark is listed as being in Blue and Violet inks This one is in Black Also the dateline is markedly shifted to the right which makes me suspect that there has been a "Time" removed Any ideas? I thought it might have been an R6, but this is not listed either. Orford R8 date to righ...

Kettering. I suspect that this is the Type 5 (m), but this is listed as having the first numeral large.
Is this a new postmarker or is the previous description incorrect?

Re: NEW DATESTAMPS - LIST ANY 'POSSIBLES' HERE

Launceston 5T ?? 5T(i)(m). BUT Year is 1954 with a smaller 5. (Too early for the type). Also there is a second (inner circle) suggesting that it might be a Type R2 postmark. ALSO there are two datelines 1.15P -9SE 54 and 2.30(1)0 OC (5)(?). This postmark appears on the back of some sort of governmen...

Re: POST 1912 DATESTAMP INQUIRIES - ASK QUESTIONS HERE !!

Spirit of Tasmania postmarker. 19 Apr 1994 Is this genuine postal usage or is it merely a souvenir issue. The fact that it is attached to a preprinted "postage paid" business envelope addressed to Teachers & Police Credit Union suggests that it might have been, but possibly incorrect usage. The enve...

Re: UNRECORDED DATESTAMP VARIATIONS - ALL ERAS - POST HERE!

Somerset R6a colour variations. This post mark is described in the notes as being in Blue ink in 1989. I wish to report the existence of two exam, ples also dated 1989, one being in Black ink, the other in Violet. This may be nitpicking, but as colour variations are extensively described elsewhere I ...

Re: UNRECORDED DATESTAMP VARIATIONS - ALL ERAS - POST HERE!

Sandy Bay R6 rubber Paid CDS 14 Dec 1993. This is listed in Hardinge in Red 1990-91 and black in 1991- The present example is in Blue ink and records the word "Paid" above the dateline and additionally the Time (6.00 PM) is recorded below the dateline. Neither this variation nor the colour is record...

Re: NEW DATESTAMPS - LIST ANY 'POSSIBLES' HERE

Express Courier Hobart Jul 1991 I have not seen this rubber postmarker before and it does not seem to be listed by Hardinge. The year is hard to read, but with magnification it appears to be 1991. I suspect that it is not an internal marker and the fact that it uses the Hobart Postcode of 7000 would...

Re: RECORD YOUR NEW EARLY & LATE DATES, etc. HERE

Mole Creek Type 7.
Hardinge cites the late date of 11 Dec 1989. This example is certainly not the 7(m) variety which was in use 1995.
Present example is nearly 11 years later than cited. Any comments

Re: UNRECORDED DATESTAMP VARIATIONS - ALL ERAS - POST HERE!

Strahan R6aT(ii). This may be a totally new variety not described by Hardinge, or may just be misdescribed in the listings. The postmark is described as having the 5PM time annotation "below" the dateline. However as the postcode varies from the R6a and R6aT(i) postmarks in the size of the text in t...

Cygnet 7bT "Paid" CDS. missing numeral in year. This postmark appears to be consistent as evidenced by the two different dates of use. They show a missing first numeral of year (presumably an "8") I must confess that I have not seen another example WITH the missing numeral present so this may be the...

Sorell R8 "Paid" postmark
I note that in the revised listing an R8T "Paid" postmark is listed.
The present postmark, R8 "Paid" is not listed. and is quite a bit smaller than the R8T version,
33mm against 37mm. I would be grateful for any feedback.
