Re: WHOIZIT? SEEK ASSISTANCE WITH PUBLISHERS/PHOTOGRAPHERS H
Going back to Ross's card of Charles Street, with Grattan's in the foreground, the use of the code would suggest either Selwyn Cox or The PPC Co. who were both active in producing the Wynphotoprint etc. Series of cards, most of which bear similar codes, and incidentally used a very similar font for ...

5d on £1 Tablet overprinted REVENUE - variety
I have recently acquired (from EBay) a copy of this stamp with a 'broken leg' of the 'R' in REVENUE that almost turns it in to a 'B'.
Are other varieties of this overprint known on tablet overprints?

Re: H.J.Hellessey, Postally Used Real Photo Cards
While they are scarce, I have managed to accumulate 41 of them, with numbers from 1 to 193, and including two numbered 3 (Mt Wellington, showing University; Bridge at Orford). Only two of them are used; No. 127, River Derwent at New Norfolk and No. 193, In Newdegate Caves, Hastings. Seven of them ha...

Re: TOO LATE handstamps
I have been giving this problem a bit of thought, and come up with an alternative scenario. I think that all the items that I have seen struck with the "Waratah" TOO LATE have been addressed to the big island. It would therefore seem plausible to me that the TOO LATE could be attributed to Launcesto...

Re: Spurling & Son Cards Produced for Local Publishers: A Su
After a quick look at my listings, I wonder whether you wish to include a variant on this theme, the printing of adverts on the front of the card? I have Nos. 624, 625 and 629 with adverts for Walker's Scamander Hotel on the front. I expect such also exist for 626-8, 630 and probably 631, as all are...

Re: Has anyone seen this B.A. private revenue canceller?
I have seen a fair number of Revenue stamps and have not seen this canceller, or part thereof, before. I would concur with the suggestion that the '88' refers to a particular individual so that the person applying the cancel could be identified, for audit purposes of no other.

Re: TOO LATE handstamps
Ross I agree that is what (on the face of it) should have happened. I know I have still got one of the Waratah strikes in my collection somewhere, so I will re-check the dimensions. When I first saw this card, my reaction was that the 'TOO LATE' is smaller than the Waratah, but my documented dimensi...

TOO LATE handstamps
I have documented the 'TOO LATE' handstamps of Hobart & Launceston in the special supplement to the BSAP BULLETIN that was published in September 2008. I also documented the (fairly scarce) Waratah 'TOO LATE'. Since publication, I have not come across information that suggests I should amend ERD and...

Re: THE FRANCO-BRITISH EXHIBITION CARDS of 1908 - A LISTING
As part of my recent attempts to tidy up my collection (much of which involves sorting by publisher), I have found my FBE cards and put them in a single album. By printing, I hold: Printing (a) Brown: Mount Lyell Smelters, Queenstown Tasmania Gold Mine, Beaconsfield Hydraulic Tin Sluicing THE Prize ...

Re: TASMANIAN CROWN SEALS - a survey
I have managed to find my sheet of these (ex-Lancaster, from the write-up) acquired some time ago, and supplemented by one other that duplicates an item on the page and a very clear example on a postcard. Best things first. A clear strike of Interlaken (presumably, like Kelso, it was used pending th...

Re: TASMANIAN CROWN SEALS - a survey
A bit of a 'bumper bundle' for you. Crown Seals.jpg First, a pair of "North Dundas Road" on a strip of three 2d sidefaces, bought some years ago from PPA. The other items are 'per favour' strikes on small pieces that I think were obtained from RLA. They are: Post Office Harford; Port Arthur, Tas; Po...

2d Pictorial with typed overprint
I show below a 2d pictorial with 'O S /VIC.' typed on it centrally. It has a machine cancel (apparently) so has been through the post. I am presuming that it has no status and is a cheap and crude attempt to create something 'scarce'. I do not remember how I came to own it - only that I did not crea...

Re: Plate proofs of De La Rue Sideface issues
I am currently working on the De la Rue Archive photos that are being put up online by The RPSL Library, and they should become accessible generally as a research resource. I have completed the section on the Sidefaces, so they may well have been posted by now. I will try to find out what the link i...

Well, it is here - and more than one. A 1d sideface with the Annigoni portrait QEII Sideface.jpg and a couple of 6d Chalon stamps with a Wilding portrait QEII Chalons.jpg Just a bit of fun. As per the signature, produced by "Geo. W King" which I guess must be a pseudonym. The original GWK is the sou...

Another one that was clearly done 'per favour'. The Granton Crown Seal on a GV 1½d red on an unaddressed envelope. Picked up a while ago on EBay and discovered during a rummage. Granton Seal.jpg Having looked back in the listing, I guess this is the same as the one posted by Ross, so I must have bou...

Re: ADVERTISING CARDS by F.W. NIVEN
Perhaps I have dropped a red herring. There is no further ID on the card that links it to Tas. I cannot find it in my 1864 or 1907 Walch, but they do not provide information on such establishments.

At last, a response to one of Mike's requests. I show my copy of 'R A Paterson's Luncheon Rooms'. It is fairly well-worn on the edges, but not postally used. It has the printing on the reverse in brown.
More to come, I hope.

The White's Series is not, I think EM White of Queenstown, but the publisher of pictures by E Verrell. Below is the list of his cards that I have, and all but one credit the photo to E Verrell.
