Real Photo King Island Cards by C A Pitt & Co.
While going through my boxes I came across two cards of King Island by C.A Pitt & Co. of Payneham SA. The numbering suggests there at least 17 in the series. Does anyone else have some? (I am sure someone will). They show: King Island area School, Currie (P1412) and Currie & Surroundings (P1417). I ...

Re: 1d De La Rue Pictorial with inverted 'Specimen.' overpri
How do the dimensions compare with the real thing? The printing looks rather thin on ink - not the sort of thing that De la Rue would knowingly let out of the door.

Thank you for providing the necessary reference. I shall not be visiting the Royal for another couple of weeks, so you have saved me the work of looking it up. I think I am now happy with the explanation and accept that it is a London mark. Pooling knowledge works well!

Re: Selwyn Cox Cards Produced for Local Publishers - A Surve
I have been through three boxes of cards and extracted the Wynphotoprint cards that were in them. These are now in their own album, so something good has come of this! The following that I have found have dates in 1907 or later: Commercial Hotel, Wynyard (Just Wynphotoprint on reverse, and commercial...

I have seen fantasy stamps based on Tas issues with QEII portraits on them. They have appeared on EBay from time to time and I think I may have bought one for fun. But as to where it is......

While I accept that the handstamp is like the one on the Canada cover, how does it get to be UNDER the Hobart Crowned Circle datestamp? Here is an enlarged scan of the 'offending' area.

Hobart 'L' in circle handstamp
I recently bought the cover illustrated from an EBay seller. It is, at first glance, a run of the mill 4d Chalon cover to Bethnal Green, London, sent in January 1856 and arriving in May of the same year. It is cancelled with a Hobart 68 and there is a third type Crowned Circle handstamp. The top has...

Re: Selwyn Cox Cards Produced for Local Publishers - A Surve
Gentlemen A listing from my records. The formatting is probably a bit off, but I have included all the Wynphotoprint, Wynbromoprint and Photostyle examples that I have listed as being non-Selwyn Cox. I have not included the PPC Co, as this was Selwyn Cox's alias. M means mint and U means used. They ...

Re: Hobart and Launceston Trams - Real Photo Cards
I have more than one card like the last one in the preceding post. However, there are two distinct types of image. One is as above. The other has a clear line across it. I have to surmise that the original photo had a glass negative, and my exaple with a line across it is a reproduction from the ori...

May I congratulate you on your solid detective work. If you cannot get EBay to do anything, perhaps it is worth trying to get Glen Stephens to 'Name and Shame' the seller. He has form for doing this, and you are closer than I am...

Yes , I am sure they have dates, but finding them.... I have decided to reorganise my collection by publisher, but that will take a long time..... At present only Ash Bester and Murray cards have their own dedicated albums. If I remember I will let you know when the job is done, but there are 5000+ ...

For once I do not have to look to far to find cards as my multiples are stored separately (and flat). Re: CARDS PUBLISHED by S. CARSON of WYNYARD - GOT ANY?
I have seven different cards and eight in all. Three are used. Fortunately I can add No. 714, which is "The Wharves from Inglis Park, Wynyard". I cannot extend the range of numbers as mine are in the range 712 to 720 inclusive.

Double and other multiple cards
I have recently acquired a card showing Wynyard and Inglis River, NWC. It is a Spurling card, but I can't read the number as half of it has been cut off. Wynyard.jpg However, I am more than intrigued by the back, which has the Tasmania Coat of Arms to the left and address lines covering all of the b...

Re: Who Published the "Beautiful Tasmania" Series ?
Ross I agree that it looks like the numbering on many of the "Wynphotoprint" (and Wynchromoprint and Wynbromoprint) series that were mostly published by Selwyn Cox but with many other names on them. For the record, I list the cards that I hold in this series. 1 Sir John Franklin's Monument, Hobart 3...
