Des, I think that that after a number of accidents (including the demolition of part of the wall on the Sandy Bay Road side of St David's Park by a runaway double-decker) these trams were converted to 'single deckers' around 1947/48. Two partial strikes of Type R2(iii) SUPERINTENDENT OF MAILS · GENERAL POST OFFICE, HOBART datestamp ....until now only one example recorded Top example in image dates 3 FEB 193_ ........ mostly likely to be 1937. Other example is dated 16 DEC 1936 which provides a new LRD if the other example isn't ...

A new LRD for the Type U2 WYNYARD cds as backstamp on cover ...... Launceston b/s indicates that there was no dateline error

New late date for the ELIZABETH ST Type 7 cds (-7OC87) ..... previously thought to have been withdrawn when the post office was temporarily closed but this cover
indicates that the cds was retained at least for the re-opening of the office.

It's a pity no one wears a tie when bushwalking nowadays ....standards have definitely dropped since 1934 Mike, would you be able to post the highest resolution image possible of just the two heads? ..... I can then direct a couple of folks I know to view the image and see if they can identify these...

This multiview card for HEATHORNS' HOTEL, HOBART dates from 1911 (if the printer's index on the back "11/7456' indicates the year of printing)

I have not seen this particular card for Heathorn's Hotel before although I am certain there must be a few around.
