Re: Census of RRR and RRRR circular date stamps on Tas Pictorial
Finally I have found some spare time to add to the on-line census on the TPS member's site. Although some of the work is behind the scenes, three new offices have been added - Loira, 10 examples, Murdunna, 18 examples, and Teepookana, 4 examples. In addition, a few new colour images have been added ...

Re: Chief Office Hobart Town
Thanks Dave,
That makes 7 examples listed on this page and I have seen a copy in the collection of Randall Askeland, so making 8 known at least.
Pete.

Re: NEED ASSISTANCE WITH IDENTIFYING POSTMARKS? - ASK HERE !
Could someone tell me specifically what "type" of postmark this is? I'm still in the process of learning! Thanks, Luis M. img046.jpg Hi Luis, you have a type 1c here. Its similar to Type 1, but the year is in 4 integers instead of two. This type is only seen for Launceston and Hobart, as far as I a...

Re: NEED ASSISTANCE WITH IDENTIFYING POSTMARKS? - ASK HERE !
Luis, you are correct - these postmarks are indeed Crotty and Newstead. P.S. a tip for future assistance with identification, it's always useful to place the stamp with the town name at the top of your image as we can't rotate it on the BB. There seen to be two post marks here. The hand stamp on th...

Peter I have this cancel in blue as well as black, the blue copy is the only one i have seen. I have also noted some eBay seller list this as a postal cancel. Dave Dave, thanks for that. Do you (or does anyone else) have an idea of the life of this cancel, when first seen and how long did it last ?...

Mayberry Type 5s. ERD Avery and Hardinge 25 Jun 64, this example 6 Aug 63. Mayberry-ERD.jpg Tenalga MSS. Appears to be ? 13 5 ?? As the Avery and Hardinge ERD is June '17, and I am confident that the month at least on this example is 5( its clearer on the original than the scan), then its most likel...

Roger, very nice strike - the general standard from this office seems to be rather poor quality as a rule.

Heres another used example from the Bill Lloyd-Smith's Tasmanian Revenues article that has just been posted on the TPS web site. If you haven't see the article, its an excellent coverage of the subject and has some nice colour images including this one. See http://www.tps.org.au/html/revenues.html f...

New Revenues article on TPS web site
Bill Lloyd-Smith has been kind enough to allow the TPS to publish his detailed Tasmanian Revenues Article on the TPS web site. As well as detail on all of the stamp issues, there are 21 colour images. You will find it at http://www.tps.org.au/html/revenues.html fig-3-StGeorge-twoandsix.jpg Over time...

I have checked the defaults available on the Board but there is no option to automatically set the default to " Notify me when a new post is made". However, if you click on the 'Notify me... " message at the bottom left of the Forum pannel, you should be then notified of all new messages to any topi...

Re: Notify me when a reply is posted
I will have a look at the defaults. It may be the answer is to subscribe to the forum and therefore get notifications of all posts - which can be annoying at times, but I'll have a look as soon as I get a minute and post a reply here with a PM to Dave.

Re: 1d value for Pigeons?
Dave,
Owen Ingles presented his collection of Railway Parcel Stamps at a TPS meeting earlier this year. I am almost certain he said the 1d was used for pigeons. Sorry I cant be 100% sure but will see if I can verify this.

Re: Census of RRR and RRRR circular date stamps on Tas Pictorial
Dave, The article in Courier Number 11 of 1990 doesnt say very much except to introduce the concept of an on-going listing, with images, of as many 3R and 4R strikes as could be found. The article then shows stikes in alphabetical order from Allonah to Ellerslie. For the next few years The Courier t...

Census of RRR and RRRR circular date stamps on Tas Pictorial
The RRR and RRRR cds on Pictorials census - phase 2 - on line In The Courier No 11, March 1990, Tony Orchard commenced a census of the scarcer Circular Date Stamps on Tasmanian Pictorials. The census extended over a number of years and all then known types were recorded. The listing of scarcer stri...
