Re: 3d Pictorial - TAS w/m - thin paper or reverse impressio

Thanks for the info and the chat just now Ross - it is a TAS watermark P14. The offset is intriguing, but could well have been from another stamp as you say. However, the impression is very crisp, not patchy as one may possibly expect if another stamp had just stuck to the back of this one and been ...

Re: 3d Pictorial - TAS w/m - thin paper or reverse impressio

Hi Ross and Jeff, Just got back - have made another 600dpi scan of this stamp - the impressions do not line up, as the impression on the rear is circa 2.5-3mm higher up than the impression on the front. Hopefully this might be visible in these 2 scans... 3d offset back closer.jpg 3d offset back.jpg ...

3d Pictorial - TAS w/m - thin paper or reverse impression?

Morning all, I found this slightly strange 3d pictorial amongst a pile of the TAS watermark perf 14 London printings and would be interested to hear anyone's views on it. The scan shows what seems to be the norm amongst these issues from the values I have seen, namely no real trace of the printing o...

Re: New Tasmanian Official Perfins online catalogue

Hello Jeff, Thanks for having a close look through the "T" document and listing your points to address there. re. the Recess stamps: I knew about the 1/2d, but I had left in the 2d since I had not sighted one myself and it was included as a ? by David Andersen in his listings, so I thought it pruden...

Re: New Tasmanian Official Perfins online catalogue

Put like that, Jeff, it does seem that it is pretty unlikely that none have surfaced or been recorded from a pool of 5 million. As no-one else has reported one, I shall leave it unlisted in the website until proven otherwise. I shall also note your T patterns for the 4d Ochre....thanks for the input...

Re: New Tasmanian Official Perfins online catalogue

Hello Jeff, Thanks for the comments - glad I managed to pick the right shades out for the scan. The differences are quite distinct with the 4d in comparison to some of the other denominations' shades. The Brown Ochre is an interesting one to me, since the only copies I have of that particular shade ...

Re: New Tasmanian Official Perfins online catalogue

Hello Jeff, Finally had some time to look through your post in detail. re the 4D Lithos - yes, the T perfins do seem to be in all 4 shades - I have numerous samples and I put the 4 best scans on the "T" document to show the differences that I thought were visible in the shades. However, to the non s...

Re: New Tasmanian Official Perfins online catalogue

Sorry for the delay in replying, folks - was away for a couple of days. Thanks for the pic, Jerry - good to get a sighting of this one. Will amend it accordingly. Thanks to Hobbit - there seems to be all sorts of oddities with the T perfins, will probably not go down the track of listing these varia...

Re: New Tasmanian Official Perfins online catalogue

thank you, Jerry - is it the Reddish Violet or Deep Rose Violet shade, do you know... could you possibly post it on here? I have only listed the 2 shades in SG, as that has been the standard that we have used, so it would be good to get that as exact as possible. Cheers... JA Jerry (how are we going...

Re: New Tasmanian Official Perfins online catalogue

Hi Jerry, Many thanks for the info about the halfpenny SG 237 - very much appreciated ! Good to know that the OS type 2 sideways has only been seen on the perf 12.5. I have changed and re-loaded the file on the webpage. I also added in the reversed OS on the 8d tablet that Ross discovered and mentio...

New Tasmanian Official Perfins online catalogue

Hello All, My name is Jerry Austen and in the last 8-9 months, I have been working in association with David Coath on a new project to create an online catalogue of the Official Perfins of the Australian States. The Tasmanian section is now ready for release, but I would dearly love the input of the...

PDf'S OR WORD DOCUMENTS

Hello,
I just wondered if there was some way to post a PDF on the boards, or alternatively a Microsoft word document, to ask for TPS members opinions on a project I am undertaking. I tried via the attachments, but they were both not allowed (unless I am doing something wrong).
Many thanks

Re: Identifying Litho and Typo on 1d Pictorials

Thanks Ross and Jeff - I have David's book and did see that no sighting has been made. Just wanted to make sure, as I have a surprise for all the TPS members who are interested in the Government perfins on the Tasmanian State stamps.... in conjunction with David Coath, I have been working on a new o...

Re: Identifying Litho and Typo on 1d Pictorials

Hi Jeff, Many thanks for the reply - I don't have the Brusden White, but I think I really do need to get one. Will make life easier for me, for sure. Just one question - did the 1D Litho with V over Crown watermark ever have an OS and T punctures? If you have scans of them, I would greatly appreciat...

Identifying Litho and Typo on 1d Pictorials

I hope somebody may be able to help. It sounds so stupid but having read through gibbons and Robson Lowe, I still have troubles with getting these two types correctly identified for the 1D when it comes to checking the stamps themselves.(the other denominations are straightforward in comparison). Do...

Re: T Perfin on the 5d QV "Tablet" - When Were These Produce

Just had a look - my latest 5d pictorial T' perfin was 1908,quite a few from 1903-7.... nor much help,I guess.... Are there any specific postmarks that would be of interest, also dates on other "T" perfins?(also on other values etc) - I have a load of all values in a stockbook here, courtesy of Davi...

Re: T Perfin on the 5d QV "Tablet" - When Were These Produce

Hi Ross, I'm doing a project with David Coath on State perfins and he asked me to look into this....I have about 15 5d Tablets, but the dates aren't stuckverywell. Here are the 3 that are best....I think they are oct 2x,1908 (could be1909 though, but the curve of the 9 doesn't match quite), Sep 10,19...
