Re: Robert Ralph, Chemist & Photographer Queenstown

I can now prove that Queenstown photographer and Chemist Robert Ralph produced plain backed postcards. That is he did not have the word Post Card or any other printed information on the back of his real photo postcards except his rubber stamped logo " Robert Ralph, Chemist, Queenstown, Tas" in purpl...

Does anyone know who "R.D.Rex. Stamp Collector. Hobart" was? Rex has hand stamped a nice 1d Andrew Mather advertising postal card with his oval stamp. See scan. The postal card is postmarked June 13th 1888 and addressed to Mrs Geo Rex, Patrick St. (Hobart). http://tps.org.au/bb/download/file.php?mod...

Re: WHOIZIT? SEEK ASSISTANCE WITH PUBLISHERS/PHOTOGRAPHERS HERE!

I have some similar photo postcards, perhaps taken at the same time as yours, but also not dated or no photographers name. My guess with regards to the photographer is either Stephen Spurling or H J King. Could it be either King or Spurling on the far right of the postcard with the camera in the cen...

Re: THE FRANCO-BRITISH EXHIBITION CARDS of 1908 - A LISTING

The following Tasmanian British Franco British Exhibition postcard sold recently on an online auction site. Unfortunately some vandal has removed the postage stamp but postally used cards are always of interest. The postmark is Paddington 12.15 am July 28th ?? (perhaps Year 08). At first I thought t...

A confirmed view of Franklin by H H Baily. Is the double storey building in the centre the same as the building on the far left in the original scan?

The hills look steep with lots of dead trees.

Yes, I think it is an Osboldstone back. I have seen other Victorian cards with this printed back.

Real Photo Postcard by K.Rudd Longford.

No, not Kevin Rudd, but Keith Rudd. Just came across a real photo hand tinted postcard of the railway bridge near Longford. It is signed in ink "K Rudd. Longford". This is the first time I have seen a card from this photographer. The 1936/1937 PO Directory lists a Keith Rudd living at Longford but h...

Now and again you come across a postcard which is impressive on both sides. This is one of them! A scarce Devonport F.W.Niven advertising postcard which was posted without a stamp, hence taxed at double the rate, using two one penny postage dues. The card was posted from Ulverstone on the 23/8/11 to...

Re: THOMAS BATHER MOORE (T.B.Moore)

Hello Lyn
That's interesting. I wonder who is correct? The State Library who obtained their information from the Circular Head Heritage Centre Smithton, or Pink and Ebdon who obtained a copy of their photo from the Discovery Centre Stanley?

It would appear that the jury is out at the moment.
