Re: TOURIST PROMOTION LABELS - "Come to Tasmania", etc
This description came with the Poster stamp: A long running campaign of the Tasmanian Government Tourist Bureau, late 1930s per consignor. Likely commissioned by Evelyn Temple Emmett, bushwalker, writer and Tasmania Tourism Director in 1914-1941, who had coined the slogan. Screen Shot 2013-04-23 at ...

Re: Wilkinson's Chemist
Just my thoughts The top typo is backed up by several others to give it some credibility, the lower litho is new to me also i can't see it being a forerunner and with Tasmania collected to death more would have survived, it appears to be printed in a singular format making it suspect, also not stop ...

Re: 1935 WAGES TAX OVERPRINTS IN SALARIES & WAGES RECEIPT BO
Ross Re your top post: 1) has anyone seen one of these books before? NO 2) is there any information on the back page that hasn't been recorded? NO 3) do you think that where a change of overprint setting or colour is present and then at a later date, stamps with the original setting/colour reappear ...

3rd Garrett with Transfer Split
I have seen this in an overseas dealers box. Probably remainder CANCELLED early 1950's. I have a few 4d values from this sheet position Row 1 Stamp 1 from a sheet of 12 and none of them show this horizontal transfer split. There must be more out there? Does anybody have a full set overprinted CANCEL...

Thanks Bill
Also thank you for pointing me to the Les Doble 18 November 2003 Leskie auction lot 431 where the right copy came from.
I remember bidding in the auction and totally missed the invert back then. Surprisingly no photo was used in the catalogue.

5d & REVENUE Inverted on 10/- Dragon
I can find nothing previously written about this double invert error, although it has been recorded in my on line catalogue it is not in Craig & Ingles 1978 publication it is in their 1997 update edition. A recent auction yielded the left copy with the right copy illustrated in an article on the TPS...

Re: 1s on 3d Numeral - Emergency Surcharge
Arriving in todays mail a rather spectacular promise note with a joined pair of the provisional usage on, this is the first piece of usage to surface. As it stands all known examples have been stripped from documents. A powerful and important revenue item for Tasmania. Perf 11.8x11 Dave tas1sprB.jpg

I guess we should mention we have shown 2 colours in the cancels, Black & Blue, wonder if any other colours are out there? and what significance they may hold.

Here is one with audit number 179 on it confirming the bank but not the numbering system, i thought it may be the day of the year but it does not fit. Could it be the 179th transaction of the day?...Dave

½d OS Sideways
Thought there would be more interest in this OS sideways which just sold on eBay for $3.00.
Just how scarce or rare is the sideways ½d? It must be 1 in 200.
Note the inverted date on the 2d.
