Re: First or second allocation?

The book cannot be obtained now, I think. However, hopefully 2105 will see a new publication through the TPS that lists all that and the CDS data as well.

It's the first allocation 37. Characteristic flat top to "3".

Re: Postage Paid At Burnie

It does shown a double ring, probably due to the canceller being new and now worn. Worn CDS tended to "merge" the ring

Re: Kellys Point, Bruni Island

THis stamp had been doubly struck with two obliterators. Firstly the 49 of Kelly's Point and secondly on arrival at Hobart the Hobart obliterator, presumably as the Kelly's Point numeral is quite faint.

Re: NEED ASSISTANCE WITH IDENTIFYING POSTMARKS? - ASK HERE !

I don't think there is much doubt these markings were used on the T.P.O. They are known on covers that likely would not have gone all the way to Hobart

Re: RECORD YOUR NEW EARLY & LATE DATES, etc. HERE

Mole Creek 7(m) I am not sure that this item qualifies as a late date, but Hardinge states that "Sometime in 1996 or early 1997 this CDS was changed to large dateline." This shows that on 21 (or ? 24) November 1997 the 7(m) with large 9 in the year was still in use. Mole Ctreek 7(m).jpg Thanks for ...

With Gawler I would think that the square rubber CDs would have been produced quickly, probably as a result of a failure in the Type 5s CDS.

Ridgley 6a Postmark I am totally confused. This is a 6a postmark but the date appears to have an inverted 7 which is not so unusual BUT if we accept the date as 1974 there is a problem. The earliest listed date is given as 22 Dec 1974, however Hardinge states that the CDS was manufactured on 4 Oct ...

Re: POST 1912 DATESTAMP INQUIRIES - ASK QUESTIONS HERE !!

Smithton coded rubber cancellations. The attached cancellations with codes 1-3 appear to be R6 however these are not listed in Hardinge who lists these codes as R6a. Also the dates precede the listed dates by approx 12 months and in one instance, 18 months. Can anyone help me to identify these post...

Kingston Paid CDS This 8aT(ii) postmark appears not to be listed by Hardinge. Firstly the listing describes Red ink rather than the blue used in this example and secondly, the date is well past the quoted last date of17 Mar 1991, and it certainly is not a R6aT. Any ideas please? Kingston R8T.jpg Th...

Interesting to note that even if a second digit is missing from beside the '2', there's no way that the
datestamp could have been ordered on December 28th as previously recorded.
Nice item

GLENORCHY 5-P 19 JE 87 ?? Type 8T Hardinge lists several 8aT varieties, but the present example seems to be unlisted. There is No 8T in the listing or the latest update. Previous ED is 5 Jan 1993. Present example is 17 Sep 1992.
I am certain this is Type R6 (ii), (iii) as it has the very short bar between TAS and the Postcode

I believe this example is the earliest date for the period in late 1934 when the datestamp was
unavailable as it was undergoing repair.
Date is 22.123, making it the late date
