Re: BOOK: THE POST OFFICES & THEIR DATESTAMPS by J. HARDINGE - report updates here!

Here is a new 'late date' for the KOOMEELA manuscript cancel ......dated 11-8-14. Current LRD is 1-8-14 ...... as this item is from the Avery Collection
it's possible that current date is a typo (i.e. '1' instead of '11' ....not an error you would pick up easily proof reading!)

CORRECTION:

This last day cover with a clear strike of the LONGLEY LOWER Type 8aT cds dated 22JA93 indicates that the currently listed
date of closure for this office (i.e. 31DE92) is most likely to be incorrect.

Thanks Mike ...I have added an image of the card in my post above. I was going to check in your book but I have buried it somewhere in my office.

Looks like Fellowes missed applying his rubber stamp to this particular card!

Re: WHOIZIT? SEEK ASSISTANCE WITH PUBLISHERS/PHOTOGRAPHERS HERE!

Hopefully, this is a fairly easy query .... The real photo card below dating from 1918 was produced for the Tasmanian Tourist Bureau (it has a TTB postcard 'back'). Can anyone identify the photographer I have seen similar numbering before i.e. >133< on locally produced cards but I can't make a conne...

Re: Hobart South Post Office

The longer you stare at the datestamp you will start to see the back of a '9' and a good part of a '5' ....fortunately, the message on the other side was clearly dated :)
