Re: PICTORIAL PERIOD POSTMARK RATINGS REVISITED

Refering back to the discussion on a rating system that takes into account quality, I think that such a system becomes problematic very quickly and 1 persons collectable is another persons space filler (especially if they have a better quality copy). A possible solution is to use the original system...

Re: Pictorial Period ratings-revisited

Do you release how much work such a revision would mean in my albums and databases? My initial reaction was that the current system was OK but with the current ratings in need of revision (due to some of the RRR items being reasonably easy to obtain) the opportunity to revise (and possibly exp...

I have an example of the dropped R on a 4d blue sideface (so have not included an image here under revenues). There is a stop after REPRINT which helps with dating a little.

While the adhesive stamps have disappeared the item below is from Mr Bassett Hull to a Victorian philatelist. Probably not supreme court business.

Re: 6d mauve Platypus REPRINT with large Colour Flaw

Both of the following have flaws (sorry about the scan quality) with the platypus on the right being shot in the sholder. The right stamp has a very poor frame and both stamps have other smaller flaws.

Launceston duplex 2b early date

If I have this correct the attached is a Launceston duplex type 2b (25mm circle) used 6 months earlier than the early date given in vol 2. On the reverse is a Campbell Town postmark dated SP 18 88 so the year is correct. Is there an obvious place here on the BB to record new early and late dates in ...

Re: West Coast Post offices and Errizobell

As well as several articles by Paul Edwards there were a couple of (non Tasmania) articles by John Avery in the Express from 1966 and 1967. He mentioned the cost of a 5/- Bridge at $50. Below are 2 other articles by Paul Edwards.

West Coast Post offices and Errizobell

In the back of a reference book I purchased some time ago there were a number of articles from Tasmanian newspapers with a stamp theme. Attached below are a couple of them. The age of the articles means that the information has been superceded by Vol 2 of the Green Books and other places but when wa...

Here are a few examples of Tasmania stamps used interstate (or at least cancelled interstate) plus a Victoria stamp cancelled (used?) at Smithton. Except for the cover would we assume used interstate?

Re: £1 QV Tablet overprinted REVENUE - postal usage?

I think the original question was where in the collection would you place this item? The options seem to be postage stamp, revenue, postage and or revenue and then whether its a valid use or a contrived item. Personally I would probably summarise a lot of the discussion here and add the stamp under ...

As a novice postmark accumulator I was having a little trouble when sorting Zeehan and Strahan postmarks into the various types as listed in the green books (too much information and not much confidence on my part). Eventually I created this timeline summary to help quickly sort postmarks into possi...

This is the first of this type I have. The previous Burnie FDC was just the normal Burnie postmark (November 1969 on England Australia flight 50th anniversary). I have similar examples from Richmond Victoria from 1970 as well.

Deloraine postmark types

In the green books a written description of the 3 Type 1 Deloraine postmarks is given. This probably applies not only to Deloraine but other towns with ...
