Can anyone identify this power station? It was with other Tasmanian postcards, so I think there is a good chance that it is somewhere in Tasmania. It is not Waratah or Lake Margaret power stations.

Re: THOMAS BATHER MOORE (T.B.Moore)
I can now confirm that the postcard view of a group of gentleman (see first post) does indeed include T.B.Moore. This same photograph appears in the book, 'Beyond the Ramparts' by Kerry Pink and Annette Ebdon, on page 250. The book was published by the Circular Head Bicentennial History Group in Jun...

The Launceston postmark is dated 27/3/14. A trove search confirmed the 1914 date. This card is now listed on the F.W.Niven Listing. sca...

It is certain that the cliffs are located somewhere in the Southern Tasmania / Hobart area. There is a Sphinx Rock in located in the Mt Wellington Park. The ...

A recent find. Postally used at Ulverstone again (see Malcolm Groom post 21/5/12) Posted 10/8/08 to England. The writer R.Nichols mentions, "This is one of the series published for the Franco-British Exhibition. I am sending you two other postcards under separate cover" scan0722.jpg scan0723.jpg

"Hobart / Tas" Double Ring CDS
The Courier No 58 Dec 2014, page 35, John Harding details the rare "Hobart / Tas" double ring CDS and mentions that it always shows 1907 as the date. This example has the 7 changed by hand to an eight. The card is dated 2/9/08 and is addressed to France. I believe the postage rate should of been 1 1...

Another postcard addressed to Lieutenant Colonel Ernest Townshend Wallack. (See first post above) This real photo card was posted at Hobart 29/4/04. I believe the photo is of Wallack at a Ross Military Camp in 1904. Does the word at the bottom of the photo say "ME" ? It appears that he posted the ca...

Yes, this is indeed a Tasmanian Postcard. It is in fact view of Strahan. The bay in the foreground is Risby Cove, then Long Bay which is a part of Macquarie Harbour. The building in the middle left with the gable roof is now called Franklin Manor which is B & B accommodation. The jetty has long gone...

I recently found this interesting cover with what appears a double ring canceller "Postage Paid At Burnie" I notice that part 2 of the green book page 120, lists this canceller (type 12) only as a single ring. Has the double ring CDS been recorded before? The back stamped CDS's of Wynyard 2/1/04 and...

Found this rather interesting cover today. It was posted at Kellys Point, Bruny Island on June 2? (perhaps a 5 or 6) 1879 to Back River New Norfolk. It has Hobart Town and New Norfolk backstamps. Note the spelling of Bruny Island on the letter head. The letter was written by S.T.Young. I have consul...
