COMMONWEALTH POSTAL STATIONERY PRIVATELY OVERPRINTED IN TAS

#1 Post by Ross Ewington » Wed Apr 28, 2010 12:53 pm

I used to collect Australian postal stationery that had been privately overprinted in Tasmania.
Even though it has now all gone to "other homes" I always keep a lookout for items that I have
not seen before.

Here's one (I've never seen before) overprinted by the AMATEUR HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY ....

I can only recall having seen one other example of a privately overprinted 1d KGV "Coronation" card before (I may still
have the image and will post it here if found ...maybe the present owner can beat me to it. :) The card had a message
on the back re a function to be held at Claremont to celebrate the coronation and was mailed from there I think).

Privately overprinted Commonwealth postal stationery issues are quite scarce when compared with the number of
1d QV and 1d KEVII cards that can be found with printed notices, pro formas, etc.

If you have any of these cards, please post (both sides) here.
