Early Dates - St George & Dragon issue
Early Dates - St George & Dragon issue
Looking to record early dates on Tasmanian Revenues.
To start the ball rolling i have this 2/6d Dragon dated 16/11/1863. The issue date was 1.11.1863.
I do have a revenue web site with some Tasmania content: http://www.ozrevenues.com

Re: Early Dates - St George & Dragon issue
A lot from the November Tasmanian Stamp Auctions has yielded an EKD for the 2mm high REVENUE overprint on the 2/6d Dragon.
The 5th August 1903.
Can others please have a look at stock and see if this truly is an EKD for the overprint.
Ross tells me the documents came from down Port Arthur way and there were no more. I presume from a garage sale or market stall as all were priced separate on the reverse $10.00-$12.00 each....Dave

Re: Early Dates - St George & Dragon issue
The document came from a retired dealer's stock purchased by the vendor in Devonport (Tas NW Coast) during the late 1980s. I have never
seen documents from the court at Premaydena before (and probably unlikely to do so again). As Dave mentions, there's no more to come!
Ross
P.S. Dave, can we have a pitcha please?

Re: Early Dates - St George & Dragon issue
The numbering on the adhesive may be confusing if it was soaked off the document. All the dragon documents from this auction lot has the same 2.7.L / 1903 on.

Re: Early Dates - St George & Dragon issue
Just noticed this 2/6d pair with 30 NOV 63 pen cancel offered on eBay ... not not the earliest known of
course (see above) but still worth recording I think.
