Production of Perf OS Pictorial Stamps

#1 Post by Jerry Weirich » Tue Nov 03, 2009 11:02 am

Does anyone know how pictorial stamps with the perf OS were produced? There is a very short description in Tinsley's book that a forme of 24 OS cliches was created that punched 24 stamps at a time (4 rows of 6 stamps). This doesn't seem very efficient and wouldn't seem to work for the vertical format stamps when punching parallel to the short side (and would require a different spacing of the pins to be centered on the stamps).

Since the posting of two OS topics (double OS perfins and OS pin missing variety), I've become more interested in the OS stamps and would like to learn more and do some additional research. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.
