½d OS Sideways

Thought there would be more interest in this OS sideways which just sold on eBay for $3.00.

Just how scarce or rare is the sideways ½d? It must be 1 in 200.

Note the inverted date on the 2d.

Hi. Hopefully you still have the 1/2d stamp. Could you tell me the date on it? The postmark is good, but I can't tell.

Could you also post a large high-resolution scan of the 1/2d so I could determine which plate it's from.

Thanks for the scan. date was very obvious with enlargement. I was able to determine this stamp is from Plate 1. I'm still trying to find an OS sideways example from Plate 2. Not sure they exist. THANKS again, Jerry

Jerry - can you advise what position this stamp is on Plate 1? I have checked Keith Lancaster's listing but have not been able to locate the position. Some of the flaws are very tiny - you must have a lot of patience [and knowledge] to be able to find such small flaws. I have two of these with the sideways puncture - one is definitely plate 1 #55 [Hobart 5th. Feb. 1905]
the other has just one small flaw - the serif on the top bar of the "E" is missing. The postmark on this one is incomplete. Sorry, I cannot provide a scan as the last expert to look at my computer wandered off muttering something about 'the computers pixies are too large' or something like that. Being a computer 'troglodyte' is very frustrating, as I am now acquiring some interesting items and cannot post them.

Sure. The stamp is position 60. I have just recently completed the full plating reconstruction of both Plates 1 and 2. Lancaster's work is fairly good on the 1/2d, but he does has some mistakes. I'm now focused on the 1/2d litho OS and Specimen stamps. To date, I have only found them on Plate 1 so I'm looking to see with they exist on Plate 2.

I am happy to plate any 1/2d litho that you (or anyone else) would like done. Jerry
