When, Where & What

Saturday 17 November: 10:00 Am - 5:00 PM
Sunday 18 November: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

A National One-frame Exhibition with both National One-frame and Post Card classes. Special exhibits, kids competitions and give-aways, People's Choice award, 6 dealers, Australia Post and the Australian Philatelic Federation in attendance
Exhibition entries
Entries are flowing in and have already exceeded our expectations of around 60. Entries close 15 August and if you are planning to submit an application it would be a good idea not to leave things until the last minute. We have a capacity for 80 frames. Details at http://hobartstampshow2012.com/application-prospectus/. Frame fee is $40, and you can pay on-line form our website - see the previous web address.
Souvenirs
We plan three sets of Exhibition Souvenirs. The first items - a set of three Souvenir post cards in a limited run of 250 are currently available for sale @ $15 the set. These are high-quality litho-offset and show three aspects of the Show theme - Hobart 1912 - the North Lyell Mining Disaster, Roald Amundsen's visit to Hobart in March 1912, and the last year of use of the Tasmanian Pictorial stamps.
See http://hobartstampshow2012.com/souvenirs/ for details.
Shortly we will announce the three overprinted Australia Post miniature sheets ( $15 each) and the three souvenir covers ($10 a set of three) cancelled with one each of the three Exhibition post marks.
Dealers
We are very happy to advise there will be 6 dealers in attendance. Our local dealers include Tasmanian Stamp Auctions and The Coin and Stamp Place from Hobart and Ludlow's from Launceston. From interstate we have Torsten Weller, Richard Juzwin P/L and Pittwater Philatelic Services.
We will have Australia Post in attendance every day, the Australian Philatelic Federation (selling souvenirs and philatelic accessories) and the Tasmanian Philatelic Society Exchange Branch (selling from their circuit sheets)
Special Events
We plan to feature some rare Tasmanian material in a "Tasmanian Treasurers" display.
There will be free stamps for kids and a competition where young collectors in different age groups can win more stamps.
Exhibition Awards Dinner
Saturday 17th November, The Wool Store, 6:30 for 7:00 Pm. Tickets $75, available from our website .
Special 'Courier*' edition featuring Postcards
The Courier No.54 will be a special Exhibition edition devoted specially to picture postcards. This will be the first publication for many years featuring information related specifically to Tasmanian Post Cards.
A number of leading postcard collectors and local historians are providing contributions and of course there will be plenty of images of interesting cards.
* The Courier is the research journal of the Tasmanian Philatelic Society - it has been published at least twice yearly since 1984 and is devoted to the study of Tasmanian stamps, postal history, postmarks, revenue & cinderella stamps, print ephemera and picture postcards.
