Arrangements for our National One-Frame Exhibition are now in full swing. We will keep Bulletin Board members informed here - you may like to subscribe to this topic so you can receive an email whenever something is added.

When, Where & What
Friday 16 November : 12:00 noon - 7:00 PM
Saturday 17 November: 10:00 Am - 5:00 PM
Sunday 18 November: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Hobart Town Hall - upstairs, Cnr Elizabeth and Macquarie St - Opposite the GPO
A National One-frame Exhibition with both National One-frame and Post Card classes. Special exhibits, kids competitions and give-aways, People's Choice award, 6 dealers, Australia Post and the Australian Philatelic Federation in attendance

Exhibition entries
Entries are flowing in and have already exceeded our expectations of around 60. Entries close 15 August and if you are planning to submit an application it would be a good idea not to leave things until the last minute. We have a capacity for 80 frames. Details at http://hobartstampshow2012.com/application-prospectus/. Frame fee is $40, and you can pay on-line form our website - see the previous web address.

Souvenirs
We plan three sets of Exhibition Souvenirs. The first items - a set of three Souvenir post cards in a limited run of 250 are currently available for sale @ $15 the set. These are high-quality litho-offset and show three aspects of the Show theme - Hobart 1912 - the North Lyell Mining Disaster, Roald Amundsen's visit to Hobart in March 1912, and the last year of use of the Tasmanian Pictorial stamps.
See http://hobartstampshow2012.com/souvenirs/ for details.

Shortly we will announce the three overprinted Australia Post miniature sheets ( $15 each) and the three souvenir covers ($10 a set of three) cancelled with one each of the three Exhibition post marks.

Dealers
We are very happy to advise there will be 6 dealers in attendance. Our local dealers include Tasmanian Stamp Auctions and The Coin and Stamp Place from Hobart and Ludlow's from Launceston. From interstate we have Torsten Weller, Richard Juzwin P/L and Pittwater Philatelic Services.
We will have Australia Post in attendance every day, the Australian Philatelic Federation (selling souvenirs and philatelic accessories) and the Tasmanian Philatelic Society Exchange Branch (selling from their circuit sheets)

Special Events
We plan to feature some rare Tasmanian material in a "Tasmanian Treasurers" display.
There will be free stamps for kids and a competition where young collectors in different age groups can win more stamps.

Exhibition Awards Dinner
Saturday 17th November, The Wool Store, 6:30 for 7:00 Pm. Tickets $75, available from our website .

Special 'Courier*' edition featuring Postcards
The Courier No.54 will be a special Exhibition edition devoted specially to picture postcards. This will be the first publication for many years featuring information related specifically to Tasmanian Post Cards.
A number of leading postcard collectors and local historians are providing contributions and of course there will be plenty of images of interesting cards.

* The Courier is the research journal of the Tasmanian Philatelic Society - it has been published at least twice yearly since 1984 and is devoted to the study of Tasmanian stamps, postal history, postmarks, revenue & cinderella stamps, print ephemera and picture postcards.

Sometime ago there was a flyer sent out by Peter advising that there would be a joint meeting of The R.P.S.V. and the TPS members on Thursday 15th. November. Is this still on the agenda?

Jeff,
yes, it definitely is. Thanks for raising it - its listed on the Exhibition website but I neglected to mention it here. We will no doubt remind members closer to the time, but its 7:30 pm, Legacy House, 156 Macquarie St, Thursday 15 November. We will have 6 short displays/talks by members from both clubs and time to socialise. I hope you can make it.

Pete

Pete,

With competitive entries closing soon, can you please provide an update as to how many have now been received to date?

Do you know the subject of some of the "Tasmanian Treasures" non-competitive exhibits as well?

There are currently 71 confirmed entries with an unknown number that may arrive early next week. With space for 80 Entries we may be stretched.

If anyone has an entry and cannot get the application form to us by 15th August I suggest an email to the Exhibition Committee would be helpful
http://hobartstampshow2012.com/contact-us/ to help ensure we can arrange sufficient frame space.

There are currently 15 postcard entries, the rest featuring stamps, postal history and thematic material.

We have decided to show some rare and interesting Tasmanian material in our "Tasmanian Treasures" display. This will include material from a Large Gold Medal exhibit of the 1899-1912 Tasmanian Pictorial Stamps, selected pages from the only complete collection of Tasmanian postmarks on the Pictorial issues and a range of rare and in many cases unique Tasmanian postcards, many of which have not been put on public display before including advertising cards as well as views of early Hobart including ships, trams, motor cars and horse-drawn transport.

As at 16th August, we have 86 entries including 4 non-competitive exhibits. Reluctantly we will have to reject any late entry applications ( not already in the mail) as we just dont have any more space .
With just under 90 frames of exhibits and around 14 frames in our Tasmanian Treasures display we should have enough material to interest just about any collector

Exhibition Dinner - Saturday 17 November
We have been advised by the Woolstore that they require final Dinner numbers a week beforehand along with a prepayment.
Hence we are asking intending diners to to please book and pay by 31 October. The cost is $75 per person and payments can be made from the Souvenir section of the Exhibition website using Paypal , or you can send us a cheque to GPO Box 595, Hobart, 7001.
We are expecting a good roll-up and suggest it may be a good idea to book early

The Stamp Show was a great event! Congratulations to all the hardworking and dedicated volunteers who spent so many hours organizing the Exhibition and then had to dismantle all the frames in such a very short time.

Also, it was very pleasing to be able to meet so many members of the T.P.S. for the first time - at the combined meeting and also at the Exhibition.
