A Bit of 1908 Chat from P.M. Bishopsbourne to P.M. Hadspen

An interesting postcard correspondence for the postmistress at Bishopsbourne (Amy Markly) to her counterpart at Hadspen (Miss Hoskins).
Mentions a temporary vacancy at the Somerset P.O. as well as some other fascinating stuff like "...my Dad cannot come up at Easter now so will
not be able to make a name for myself yet with that shooter" !!???

A didn't know that free mail privileges extended to personal correspondence between post mistresses!

Regarding the use of Free franking privileges, I would say there were definitely no provisions in 1900 which would make this correspondence acceptable to the Postal authorities as a Free item. The Courier No 53, June 2012 contains a complete ( original) list of all Frank and Free privileges for the year 1900 and postmaster-to-postmaster correspondence does not feature. In fact Postmasters are specifically advised to check the list and mark items not eligible as "unstamped" or "Insufficiently Stamped" as the case may be. I am pretty sure I have seen another similar example of Postmaster-to-Postmaster mail around this period similarly not stamped and not endorsed as unstamped. Maybe the regulations changed between 1900 and 1908 - but it seems a bit unlikely.
