Introducing Lars Peter Svendsen

#1 Post by Lars Peter Svendsen » Fri Jul 17, 2009 7:51 pm

I have been TPS member for less than a year and have collected the Victoria stamps of Tasmania for around 4 years. I also have a good presentation of Postal Stationeries, but my main focus is on the Victoria stamps. Ever since my childhood I have collected traditional philately, first specialised on the classic Danish stamps as a youth collector, then later for the last 25 years focusing on Heligoland. I could not expand my Heligoland collection any further and opened my Gibbons Commonwealth & Empire Stamps 1840 - 1952 catalog surging the most beautiful stamps next to the Heligoland ones, and my choice was off cause the Chalon Heads of Tasmania. The first half year I was collecting Tasmania I did not have a single stamp, as these stamps are not often for sale in Denmark, where I live. Today I have enough to show a 3 frame exhibit on a local exhibition later this year and next year a 5 frame on national level.

I am Philatelic Judge and commissioner for The Danish Philatelic Federation and also delegated for Denmark at the F.I.P. commissions for Traditional Philately and Fight Against Forgeries. I am President of the oldest Stamp Collectors Club in Denmark "Kjøbenhavns Philatelist Klub" where we are celebrating our 125 years anniversary with a Nordic exhibition in 2012.

Tasmania is a challenging area to collect and I still have a lot to learn, therefore I appreciate all the help I get from other collectors as well as the initiative to implement this Bulletin Board. I hope at some stage I will be able to give something back.
