EARLY USE of 3d PICTORIAL ??

Does anyone have the earliest known date of the use of the 3d Pictorial recorded?

I just came across this fiscal use (scarce in it's own right) earlier during the week - it's dated APRIL 1/00

You might be interested to know that April 1st 1900 was a Sunday.

it being a fiscal usage, a Sunday date is OK.

Isn't this cancel backdated? That sort of thing can easily happen when people forgot
to stamp a document and amend the error later.

There is evidence in the archives, especially Premier's Department (also published in
Philately from Australia) that indicates that the 2½d, 3d and 4d were issued May 1900.

I recently purchased [on Ebay] a used set of London printings of the Pictorials. Five of them had a very neat Hobart [S] cancel which was inverted. The inclination of each cancel was exactly the same. They were possibly cancelled "per favour" or more likely to have been part of a presentation set. The date on all five was 28th. May 1900. The cancels on the 1d. 5d. and 6d. are quite bold, but the two pence halfpenny and the threepence are hard to read. This is probably the reason why I was the only bidder. However, the reverse of the Tasman Arch stamp does show the date. Eventually I will provide scans, but need some assistance to do this!
