½d litho V over Crown perf varieties

#1 Post by Postagedues » Fri Sep 23, 2016 11:44 pm

Lancaster states the ½d V over Crown litho printings were perforated with 11 & 12½ gauges. SG lists compunds of 12½ and 11 (237a) and 12½ and 12 (237b, this unpriced).

Is the latter stamp known to modern day collectors?

Lancaster's perforation measurements (as are SG's) are approximate

Yes, there is a compound perf of 12.4 and 11.8 (at base) known to modern day collectors ...there are only a few recorded examples according to Kellow.

The Australian Commonwealth Specialists Catalog lists the variation as T4 on Page 1/184 (Kangaroos and Early Federal Period catalog - 2004)
