Tas Military Postmarks - Unit Postal Station S215

This rectangular rubber date Stamp was used at Anglesea Baracks as described by John Hardinge:
“Unit Postal Station S215”. Violet ink. Returned from Mona Vale Military Camp(qv) on closure at end May 1943. Then used at Angelsea until Angelsea closed, firstly at the Glenorchy annex to 2 Jun 1944 and then at Angelsea Barracks. Closed 4 Aug 1944

I now have a Dept of Army cover with the date stamp dated 29 Aug 1945 which raises the question was the date stamp transferred elsewhere from Anglesea Baracks or did the Postal Unit at the Barracks not close in 1944?
You can see a rubber stamped address "Tas D.(or L.) OP C. Area/Stationary Deport bottom left on the cover.
This seems to be a late date by 12 months but also raises the question of the date of final closure of Postal Unit 215. (Or is it just a date error putting the late date only 25 days out ?) Any thoughts?

I don't think that the actual closing date of the postal unit at Anglesea Barrack is all that "firm" however John H. may be able to bring us up-to-date re current knowledge.

The "Tas D.(or L.) OP C. Area" to which you refer is actually L OF C = Line of Command

thanks for that. One would expect as Australia was still at war with the Japanese in Aug 45 that there might still be a staff presence at Anglesea Baracks .
I actually did know what L OF C stood for but must have suffered a temporary brain malfunction !

Have seen a cover dated 31.8.45 from Tas L of C as well. This actually contradicts Proud, which must be wrong. 6MD PDU(postal delivery unit) definitely closed 4.8.1944, so it would seem that some sort of postal service survived at just Anglesea, using this CDS at Tas L of C(Lines of Communication). When did it close? Well, that is another matter entirely. I’ll try and see what I can find. I have seen the CDS itself in 1946 I think, but always assumed it was used elsewhere.

The only possible conclusion here is that Proud is incorrect and that Tas L of C closed 28.5.1946, which coincides with the return of the S215 boxed CDS.

I have also recorded 3 covers 19.7.45-6.2.46 all of which indicate being from Tasmania, two with Tas LofC return address, one to "Launceston " without Tasmania in address.
