Following an inquiry from TPS BB member Anthony Munslow regarding information on Tasmanian postmarks from the last twenty years or so, I thought I would have a look at what exists and see if I can (with assistance from any other interested collectors) undertake a basic study of the datestamp types that can then be developed into a more specialised listing.
Some of the datestamps have already been given a "type" by Avery & Hardinge as the first neoprene-faced datestamps were introduced during the period covered by their books "Tasmanian Hand Cancellations 1913-88", namely Types R6 and R7. For the time being though, I will assign a provisional "type" to the different variations described and then formally determine "types" (probably R8, R9, etc) at a later date, especially when a chronology of issue dates can be determined.
I will keep this first post in the topic as the "Master List" so that when additional information is added by members I can then update it.
Here we go .................

Hi Ross,
Wow!! You have done that quickly. Give me a few days and I will look at my collection and see if I can add anything to your list.
Is it too early to start looking at earliest/laltest dates?
Regards
Anthony

Re: SORTING OUT MODERN TASMANIAN POSTMARKS - WORK IN PROGRESS!
thanks Anthony,
I think it is a little too early to start listing ERDs and LRDs just yet as I would like to get the various types sorted first and then assign them "numbers" following on from those listed by Avery & Hardinge (there appears to be some pre-1994 sub-types of datestamps already classified by A&H and I need to "nail" these as well).
As soon as I have a fairly comprehensive listing, I plan to create a spreadsheet of the offices and datestamp types to which ERDs and LRDs (+ additional comments) can be added. I will get this posted as a .pdf on the TPS website with links to and from this BB so that the work can still be carried out in this forum.
By all means though, please start compiling your early and late dates as they will certainly be needed at some stage quite soon (hopefully). I have already included mail closing times as they are a fixed feature of datestamp design where present i.e. there is only one possible time for each separate datestamp.
