We have done a lot of good work on early dates for 1d Kangaroos in 1913. However, to get an idea of when offices "changed over" we also need to look at late dates on either 1d or 1d surcharge pictorials.
I have kicked it off with the dates listed below but would be very grateful if people added to this. I have not kept many dates over the years but if people collect pictorials "by year" or have collections on the 1d on 2d they should find it easy to add to this list.
Please note 1d values only, not 2d's or ½d's as they went much longer. Also no OS issues - they also went much longer as stayed "in stock" for many months at Comm Govt Depts.

Until I had received this consignment, I had seen only two or three examples from the same town which had 1913 cancellations. From this we could presume, that Smithton was the only large town which had significant stocks of this stamp on hand when the Kangaroo stamps were first issued.

I have been working though my collection of 1d thin paper stamps, looking for cancellations with latest complete dates. There are 140 offices in the list below. A large proportion have not yet appeared under this heading, so there are many more late dates to be added. Some dates (all in 1913) are earlier than, or the same as, those noted previously and a few are dated during the first two weeks of January 1913, so do not add to the late date survey. The only manuscript cancellation is for Oldina. I have not yet seen a 1d thin paper stamp perforated 'OS'.
