for reporting contemporary Tassie postmarks. With the introduction of neoprene faced
datestamps in the early 1990s, many collectors chose to collect only the (soon to be obsolete)
longer lasting steel datestamps as the newer types proved to be ephemeral and in many instances,
replacements hard to identify from the originals. As a result, the reporting of new postmarks
to The Courier dwindled to nil and that is more or less the current situation.
Although this forum is not really suitable to start an exhaustive "A to Z" study of modern postmarks,
I feel that it is a good place to record the neoprene-faced special types that have been produced for a
specific purpose other than the day-to-day cancelling of mail.
