Edward Raymond Ash was the chemist at Franklin.
A quick search found 4 real photo cards by Ash. All were taken around the Franklin area. One is postally used from Huonville, December 1912.

These cards were published by Robert Jolley. He used a number of different back designs, of which this squiggly line style is one.

many thanks Des,
I didn't think that Jolley was still about when the T cards were published. As he was a 'mainland publisher' I would think that the "T" probably indicated "Tasmania" ...perhaps there
are'V', 'N', 'Q' cards, etc. out there?!
cheers .... Ross

I would have to agree with Ross. I doubt very much that these T cards were published by Robert Jolly. Robert Jolly sold his business in 1919. One of the cards which I scanned has a picture of the Australian Newsprint Mill at Boyer, near New Norfolk. This mill commenced production in 1941 and the mill looks firmly in production mode on the postcard. So I would date it c1948. The quality of the printing and production of these cards is poor. All of the early Jolly cards that I have seen are off very good quality. I hope some postally used cards turn up soon with postmark dates.

Another interesting T card. Australian Titan Products, works near Burnie. Construction started in 1946 and production started in 1948. I would date this image late 1947/early 1948. This same image as a real photo appears in the rare booklet, "Tioxide Australia Pty Ltd, A Pictorial History 1946 - 1996." This 48 page booklet was given out to employees at a farewell dinner held at the Civic Centre Burnie in 1996. If I remember correctly only 250 copies were printed. There is a good chance that the original photo was taken by Winter's Studio, Burnie. In 1972 the company changed its name to Tioxide Australia Pty Ltd. In June 1996 the plant closed and the site was totally cleared and the area was rehabilitated.

I may have solved the mystery of the "T Cards". I have just seen a view folder published by G. & G. with colour views of the West Coast identical to three "T Cards" which I sold in my September 2021 auction (image below).
G. & G. was
GORDON & GOTCH, an Australasian firm of printers, publishers and book distributors who were very active in the 1950s - the business still exists as Gordon & Gotch Australia and Gordon & Gotch (NZ)
