TASMANIAN 1947 FIRST DAY COVER by DON CLARK of MOONAH

Except for the production of Australian First Day Covers by Max Easther during the 1950s/60s period, covers by other Tasmanian-based
makers can be numbered as being 'two or three' at best.

I assume that this cover for the 1947 1d Princess Elizabeth issue was produced by Don Clark of Moonah.

The map of Tasmania with inscription appears to have been crudely printed (rather than drawn) to make a generic cover for philatelic purposes.
I have not seen the First Day of Issue Australia handstamp before but if the maker went to all the effort to print envelopes and have a rubber
cachet manufactured, it's likely that other covers from the period exist.

Have seen any examples of a similar type?

Comparing the bottom of the cachet from the two covers, I would now say that it was definitely
printed on to the envelope.
