Postmark identification

I found this stamp (4d chalon, star watermark) with a strange postmark

I thought at the beginning , too much ink for a BN , but it looks really flat on top and at the bottom.
Also different than circle used in Macquarie plains.
It looks like a number inside as 1 or 4, I really don't know.

I think it might be a "registered" handstamp which is a large heavy "r" inside a circle.
I will post an image if I can find one.

Here is a copy of one of the "R" (Registered) handstamps (bottom Left of the cover). This example is from the David McNamee Registered Mail collection. There were a number of different "R" handstamps and sometimes they were over inked an appear enlarged and blury, and for Country offices the "R" was enclosed in an oval rather than a circle.
However, I believe, but am not 100% sure, these only saw use from the 1880s which makes it 30 years too late for used on a Star watermark cover. So, perhaps this is not what is shown on your stamp.
Any other ideas?

IT could be an overseas transit mark on an uncancelled stamp or a fake cancel, although this world be unusual on a star watermark
