FRANK STAMPS - record latest use here

#1 Post by Ross Ewington » Thu Jul 06, 2017 2:19 pm

This cover from the Post and Telegraph Department has a frank stamp (Secretary General Post Office) 'cancelled' on December 11th 1902. As the use of stamps perf T was introduced for all government mail from November 1st 1902 I would regard this as a very late official use of any TAS frank stamp.

Arrival backstamp applied at Launceston dated December 12th confirms the Hobart cds has the date correct.

Do you have any covers with late dates for use - please post them in this topic.

I have a Franked cover from the Secretary General Post Office that is dated 20th December 1902.

However, In my write-up I state that the Frank Stamp was used as late as 1904. I think this information came from Randall Askeland, on whose collection mine is based.
