blue marking

Good afternoon all, can anyone identify the attached mark on the 2/6 tablet, I have not come across this mark before.

John, its a fiscal (Revenue cancelling) handstamp from the Bank of Australasia. Used to cancel adhesive stamps on documents and Notes paying Stamp Duty. At the time it was applied, postage stamps could be used to pay Stamp Duty. The Bank was an important financial institution in Hobart from the 1850s
I don't think it's rare though probably scarce. You see it from time to time.

The Bank itself is now the Queen Mary Club in Macquarie St and is one of the finest examples of the work of Convict Architect James Blackburn.
