CORRECT IDENTIFICATION of BARRED NUMERAL POSTMARKS

Firstly, I wonder if BN 191 - Sisters Creek has been ruled out ?. This was apparently issued in 1891 according to John Hardinge's listing and is 2R so its far more likely to be seen. The 3d chestnut platypus would have been on issue then wouldnt it ?
Here is an image of BN 191 - first issue and second issue from the Askeland collection ( which was provided to the TPS for use in The Courier so I am hoping Randall will not mind it being used here.)

I will see if I can find BN 161 for comparison.

Here is BN 161 for comparison. Looking at genuine 191, there are telltale very pronounced serifs on the top and the bottom of the "1" but on BN 161 only a slim serif on the top. The sale item only has a trace of a serif. What appears to be the serif on the top of the sale item is the bottom serif of BN 161. The item offered for sale seems to be BN 161 upside down based on comparing images from the Askeland collection.

You can also see on the playpus the serif on the "1" of "161". Dead giveaway. Plus, of course, the letters are too tall for 191.

Hi!

Can anyone help me with These numerals? These are the only ones I have on Sidefaces and pictorials. Is there anything rated within?

The numbers as I see them are: 4, 6 or 9, 7, 15, 16 or 91, 20, 24, 33, 34, 37, 42, 45, 51 two types, 53, 59, 62, 63, 79, 84, 87, 94, 95, 120, 144, 178, 221, 311, 321 and 362. The last two pence stamp must either be 106, 206 or 306, but I don`t know the exact first number. Any help is welcome!

Hi Josto,

thanks for your post .... the numeral cancels I can identify are mostly from the more common offices. You do
have two 'standouts' I can see however ...BN311 was used at Turner's Marsh and is rated RRR and if the BN cancel
on the 2d Pictorial is indeed '321', that was used at Riversdale and is rated RR.

As mentioned elsewhere on the TPS BB and 'Stampboards', the Tasmanian Philatelic Society published a complete
new listing of the 2nd Allocation Barred Numeral postmarks in three editions of The Courier (Nos. 49, 50 and 51)
during 2010/11 and backcopies may be obtained if you send an e-mail request to 'admin' via this online forum.

Hi Ross,

thanks very much for your great help! My Problem is, that due to financial and healthy problems I have to get rid of a large part of my stamp collection. Tasmania was not a main collecting field, I`ve spezialiced on Australia Commonwealth Roo and KGV era. The Tassie material came up in bigger lots I got during the past years and I always had put aside the Aussie States stamps. Now I`ll only try to hold on the KGVs and Roos, everything else will be given away over the next months.

So if anyone remembers anything I posted here and is interested in it, just let me know.
