Does anyone know the actual story behind the "posthumous" impressions of the
famous Port Arthur handstamp. Who did them*; when and where they were done; approx. how
many were produced (this is third example that has passed over my desk); where is the
handstamp now?

* no need to "name names" if you don't think you should ... just a hint will be fine. :)

Late last year I was in touch with the Port Arthur Authority as they had requested a pictorial Stamp image for use in a display they had in mind.
They mentioned they had found an old object that could be some sort of stamp cancellor. Its a long shot but I wonder if it might be the unframed Prisoners Letter stamp ?
Unfortunately I no longer have the name of the person I was dealing with but they offered to show it to me should I call in .
