1930s FANCY DRESS PARTY - Do You Know the Location?

#1 Post by Ross Ewington » Wed Sep 16, 2009 1:13 pm

This real photo card is on Kodak "Austral" paper and has J.J.N. Barnett / Photographer / Liverpool Street (Hobart)
hand stamped near the right end of the message side.

Image

The card would date from the 1930s and one of the happy revellers is known ... the young lady without a hat and seated
fourth from the right (with bare arm) was Margaret Morgan (nee Peate) who was born in 1908 and died this year @ 101 years of age.

Can you assist with identifying the interior of the building and/or the organisation these happy party animals belonged to
.... a rowing club, sailing club, church group (note vicar or priest at left side although that may have been a costume of course
but he does look convincing),etc, etc, etc.??

One can safely assume that the location is in Hobart.
