Re: Tas 4d Chalon Imperf Between Pair, SG 85

Hi

Looking at your pair, it appears to be genuine. I have recorded another in this shade Perf 12.5 and fiscally used......but it is very rare. The pair I posted on the web site was not mine.....but that was a forgery of an imperforate pair from the 1857 printings and reperforated....

Wanted: Tasmanian military cancels and photos

Hi folks I am looking to buy examples of the following: 1. A good example of the Western Junction Military Camp cancellation 2. An example on cover 3. An example of the Pontville Military Camp (I believe this was the rubber datestamp used at the Easter Camps at Ross. It needs to be dated from August...

Tasmania 0fficial roulettes and perforations SG 91-126

Hi folks At the base of the Stanley Gibbons catalogue of SG 126 is a paragraph that reads: "These local separations (Nos 91/126) were often applied only the horizontal rows or vertical columns of sheets, so that pairs can be found "Imperforate vertically" or "imperforate horizontally". The early Vic...

Re: Double print on 4d Chalons

Hi Laurent My scan of the three stamps has not loaded yet.....however, both your examples are Double Impressions. Even the second stamp does not show the characteristics of the stamp going through the printing press twice. When my three examples are loaded.....you will see the difference..... As to ...

Re: Double print on 4d Chalons

Hi Laurent With early Tasmanian Chalon stamps, you need to be aware of the difference between "Double Impressions" (or Kiss Prints) and stamps that are Printed Double. Even in the Courier series, the locally printed stamps from Tasmania can all be found with Double Impressions. This can be for a var...

Early Tasmanian advertising envelopes

Hi folks I am doing some research on the early Tasmanian advertising envelopes. Aside from a printed circular in 1858, the earliest envelopes I can find are the Brisbane Hotel in Launceston (pictured) dated 1863, and the Willian Wood & Sons envelope dated 1864. Tas advert682.jpg I believe that these...

Pre-WW1 Easter military camps in Tasmania

Hi I am looking to find information on the Pre-WW1 Easter military camps in Tasmania. I understand that there were camps at Ross (Mona Vale?) from about 1895 to 1914. Can anyone provide me with the dates of each of the camps over the years? Was Ross the only Easter camp? This information will be inc...

Re: Imperf One Penny Pictorials ?!?!

Hi Geoff

All these 1d Pictorials have had their perfs clipped. The only way to collect these is in imperforate pairs, or imperforate between stamp and margin (with a very large sheet margin to prove that it is imperforate)

Cheers

Re: ½d orange sideface of 1889

Hi Bill Thanks for the update for the printing of this stamp. It does make sense......however, it still does not answer the question if anyone has seen this stamp with no watermark. I believe it could be a perforated PLATE PROOF with no watermark.....but then again, I have not seen that either, and ...

Re: Imperf One Penny Pictorials ?!?!

I believe all the imperforate singles have the perforations clipped....otherwise, they would exist in multiples.....like the 1d SG 250f

Tasmania 1880 ½d Orange QV Sideface - No Watermark

Has anyone heard of the Tasmania 1880 ½d Orange Sideface Perf 12 with no watermark? I have seen imperforate plate proofs overprinted SPECIMEN on very thin pelure type paper in a very crisp and clear printing. However, this looks blotchy, like the issued stamp......and I can find no record of a perfo...

Attached is a scan of the 9d Pale Blue Perf 12......with the watermark TAS reading downwards vertically. Has anyone seen this type of watermark error on these stamps before?

SG list a 1/2d Orange watermark sideways (SG 163ab). Is this the same type of error?

Tas 4d Chalon Imperf Between Pair, SG 85

I have on extension a 4d Chalon Perf 12 1/2 Imperf between pair..... SG 85 Tas 4d SG SG 85 imperf between pair078.jpg On the face of it, it looks OK.....however, there appears to be some inconsistencies. Firstly, the pair is in the Pale Blue shade. For the stamps Perf 12 1/2, they were only printed ...

Tasmania 5/- St George & Dragon SG F4 Unused

Hi I am looking for information regarding the Tasmania St George SG F4 in unused condition. I have an example which appears to have even discolouration throughout the whole stamp. However, I'm not sure if this is "normal" for this issue. For example, mint examples of the NSW Diadem Perf 13 of the 5d...

Assistance with Making a Post

Hi Ross

I've tried posting a new listing.....saved it as a draft.....and it's gone missing. In addition, I've tried to upload an image......and I am unable to browse the image from my computer (which the manual says I can do)......it looks a bit hard....

Cheers
