Re: Forgeries and Facsimiles seen on Online Auction Sites, etc

Another 4d Courier forgery is posted to eBay. The seller is "soci31" of Nairn, UK. The forgery appears to be very similar to the ones produced by the Australian forgery gang.

New Type? GPO Hobart Marking

I just acquired a cover from the Barwis sale in New York that appears to be a new type of the GPO Hobart Town marking. The marking is 34 mm in diameter and fits the description of the type 3 marking (Green book, part I, figure 9, pages 10-11). This example is without the VDL inscription which is men...

Re: Forgeries and Facsimiles seen on Online Auction Sites, etc

The Australian forgery gang has relisted a group of forged Specimen overprints on eBay. These forgeries are listed by "stamps_collectables1" of NSW, Australia. Each forgery was previously listed in 2024 under different sellers known to be associated with the forgery gang. The 1/2d and 2d were previo...

Re: FORGED OFFICIAL PERFINS BEING OFFERED FOR SALE on eBAY etc.

"PhilaCollectables" of Hobart, Tas has listed on eBay four forged OS punctures on various pictorial issues. These same duds were previously offered on eBay under "philacollectables" of Newtown, NSW (see TPS BB post of 25 Sept 2024). These are the same seller despite different locations. Glad to see ...

Re: FORGED OFFICIAL PERFINS BEING OFFERED FOR SALE on eBAY etc.

The exact same OS forgeries shown in the 27 Sep 2024 post above are now being offered on eBay by another member of the forgery gang -- "moonman143" of NSW, Australia. This continues the pattern of changing the seller ids if an item doesn't sell under another seller id. OS forgeries 15 (same as 12).j...

The same group of tablet forgeries (with the exact same scans) shown in the TPS BB post of 14 Jan 2025 are now being offered on eBay by "j.j.raison" of Kingscliff, NSW, Australia and in a second separate eBay listing by "diggercollectormike" of Kingscliff, NSW, Australia. These must be the same sell...

Re: Forgeries and Facsimiles seen on Online Auction Sites, etc

Another group of tablet forgeries are offered on eBay by "NUTBROOK STAMPS" of Ilkeston, UK. This seller is also listed on eBay as "mswitho". The seller states these are reprints, unwatermarked, and mint no gum. They appear to be the same forgeries produced in Taiwan and sold as reproductions (see TP...

Re: EARLY MANUSCRIPT CANCELLATIONS - POST IMAGES/ANY QUESTIONS??

Need help identifying this manuscript. It is a First Allocation manuscript dated 23 April 1857 on a 4d Chalon watermarked star. I'm confident it is postally used, but I can't figure out which town. The name could be a partial because I see a tiny black speck in the left margin that may possibly be a...

Re: Forgeries and Facsimiles seen on Online Auction Sites, etc

Forgery gang member "collectablestamps_9" of NSW, Australia continues to post forgeries of the 4d Courier. This time a forged pair on piece with forged BN60 marks. An interesting item on this dud is the fake expertizing mark on the back. Appears to be a script of BP in a circle. Good to recognize th...

Forgery gang member "moonman143" of NSW, Australia continued to be active over the past few months with forged Couriers. The current forgery listed on eBay is shown below and is being hawked as unused. Another item that caught my attention was a forged cancel on a 1d Chalon. This item was in a group...

Re: Forgeries and Facsimiles seen on Online Auction Sites, etc

"YHStamps2020" of London, UK has listed more forgeries on eBay. This is the first time I have seen forged Couriers and perforated Chalon forgeries from this seller. The Courier forgeries appear very similar to the NSW forgery gang's material, and the Chalon forgeries appear very similar to the forge...

Agents-General for Tasmania

I purchased a cover that I think is from the Agents-General for Tasmania's office in London. It would be an early cover (dated 1887) for this office. It certainly appears Tasmanian, and it was mailed in London to London. Looking for others' thoughts and if anyone has other postal history from this T...

More forged OS punctures on eBay from a member of the forgery gang. Such a shame that good collectable stamps are being ruined by these forgers. OS forge...

"moonman143" of NSW, Australia has re-listed on eBay two forgeries--a 4d Courier and 2d Chalon--both products of the Australian forgery gang. The last time we saw these particular duds was on 24 August 2024. I'm happy that collectors are not buying this trash. Continue to be vigilant. forgeries 2.jpg
