This used example 9d red Railway Parcel stamp overprinted in black SUBJECT TO THE RAILWAY MANAGEMENT ACT, 1935. is Craig/Ingles #1393a.

The story about the reason for this overprint is well-told on page 58 of "The Revenue & Railway Stamps of Tasmania" by Craig & Ingles (1978)
The vast majority of examples were made by the Government Printer but a provisional handstamp with the same text was also provided to the TGR Accountant's Office
at Hobart for application to sheets returned from railway stations throughout the state.
At the time of publication, only one such provisional overprint was known to the authors (violet overprint on 1/3d deep magenta) and assigned catalog number #1375.
The catalog states that "possibles" on which the said provisional overprint may be seen are: GARRATT TYPE: 1d, 4d, 8d, 9d & 1/9d and DIESEL TYPE: 3d, 6d, 9d, 1/-, 1/3d,
1/9d, 2/- & 4/-.
In the past 32 years since the publication of the catalog, have any of these "possibles" been found. Also, does anyone have an image of the recorded 1/3d deep magenta?
