Bus Parcel Stamps Pioneer & Ansett-Pioneer

#1 Post by Revenuer » Sat Nov 07, 2009 7:05 pm

An email from Pat Reid has prompted me to just see what is out there in these bus parcel stamps. Other than the Revenue & Railway Stamps of Tasmania 1977, i have not seen any further updates to this, but then again i may have missed an article or two.

If you can add to the 1977 listing please do so here.

Pioneer Tourist Coach Parcel Stamps

There is only 3 values listed in the Pioneer Tourist Coach parcel stamps 1/3 1/9 & 2/- i only have the 2/- down as a proof without number has anybody seen the 2/- with numbers?

Ansett-Pioneer Parcel Stamps

Pat has shown me 3 type fonts of the 5/- none are the short dumpy font the listed type 2.

Looking at the font one would think the thick font for the Ansett-Pioneer stamps would have followed the Pioneer Coach issue but they are listed as type 3

The 1/9d has proving pieces that various fonts existed from the same sheet.

Provisional decimals exist:

Can you add to this?

We can now record a 1/6 value to go with the 1/3, 1/9 and 2/- values of the series for
Pioneer Tourist Coaches Pty Ltd, whose date of issue is not stated in the Craig & Ingles
catalogue. These stamps are definitely post-war but surely issued before 1960.

The Ansett-Pioneer issue was certainly in use by 1960, probably in the 1950s.
