Wages Tax Overprint Varieties, etc. on Numerals

I only have 150 Wages Tax stamps to pick at from the four settings and find quite a variance in all the WAGES TAX settings.

The 5/- pair below clearly shows the word 'TAX' or 'WAGES' is quite a bit misplaced, in the left copy the A in TAX is closer to the centre of AG in WAGES whereas in the right copy the A in TAX nearly sites over the A in WAGES.

Has there been any work done or a study of these overprints published anywhere?

If not do other members have bulk copies they can check against?

Does anybody have a full sheet of any value?

Also note in the left copy WAGES shows Q for G. Both show a solid coloured A in TAX.

Little work has been published on these stamps, apart from the catalogues.

There would be some scope for research on these issues.

NB The 5/- stamps with narrow overprint illustrated by Revenuer are not particularly common.

Hi, I agree that these issues are worthy of further study, and I have seen little evidence of any study. According to the literature, the stamp duty was imposed with effect from 24 June 1932. I have a piece dated 12 December 1932 with £1 (QV KEYPLATE), 10/-, 5/-, 2/6, 1/- AND 1d. Does anybody have a piece that can predate mine?
