Hi Andrew .. this stamps looks like SG 250e (issued in 1907 so it "fits" the pmk date OK) - the ACSC* narrows it down a little further to a perf.12.4 (T14a) and a perf.11 (T15a) with sideways wmk ... your example looks like the latter. There's also a compound perf with a sideways wmk. ... Ross
* the Australian Commonwealth Specialist's Catalog(ue) - "Kangaroos and The Early Federal Period, 1901-12" is the text for the Pictorials in my opinion as everything is listed in details except for the recess prints of course which a fortunately fairly straightforward anyway.

Hi Ross
Thanks for the info your knowledge is very much appreciated .But i might not of explained myself to well i am not to sure, near the back of lancaster book he has chapter on official perfins and lists T perfs he has seen on pictorials he lists 1d V over crown wmk sideways but does not list 1d crown over A wmk sideways .Would there be a reason for this ?

I don't think Keith Lancaster was a particularly interested in official perfins - I cannot remember seeing any extensive treatment of T (or OS) perfins in his exhibits. I was very enthusiastic about T perfins during the 1980s when K.L. was a regular exhibitor of the Pictorial issues at state and national levels so I would have been very attentive to such detail if it were present.
Therefore, I would say that Keith's list was intended to provide just an overview rather than an exhaustive census of what exists.

Hello,
I have about 200 1d. Red Pictorials punctured "T" and have managed to find seven examples of the Cr/A wmk. sideways with this puncture.
Perf. 12.4 Ulverstone Sept. 18 1909, Hobart Oct. 18 1909 and Lilydale ..... 1909.
Perf. 11 [illegible] Oct. 13 1909, Scottsdale Nov. 27 1909, [illegible] Oct. 6 1909 and Forth ...11 1909.
I have not attempted to plate them, but the stamps used at Lilydale and Forth show very nice examples of the retouch over "TAS" and therefore are from Plate 4 position 12.
