PLAYING CARDS with TASMANIAN VIEWS - PUBLISHER?
and "Fern Scenery"
Has anyone got further examples or any idea who published them - Beattie, Walch's, Birchalls, etc. ??
The back of both cards looks like this....
Re: PLAYING CARDS with TASMANIAN VIEWS - PUBLISHER?
I have a different set of 52 playing cards, 2 jokers and 2 blank cards (spares I guess, in case you loose cards) in their oringinal box. The gold writing on the box is rather faded but it says,
Tasmanian Souvenir Playing Cards.
Printed and published by W.R.Rolph & Sons Pty Ltd
"The Examiner" and "Weekly Courier" Offices
Launceston Tasmania.
They appear to be Spurling photographs to me, although his name is not mentioned. Many of the photographs are the same as Spurling's postcards.
Ross, your 2 scenes do not appear on any of my cards.
Have scaned the King of spades and 3 of clubs.
