While sorting though some old journals I came across a small run of Victorian Philatelic Record No. 115 Vol. X through to No. 144 Vol. XII. the name seems to change between June and August 1929 to Australian Philatelic Record. They are full of interesting snippets of Club and Society News but the most intriguing part was the reference (amongst others) to the journal as "The Official Organ of the Tasmanian Philatelic Society". I was unaware of this and wonder if this was our first "Courier"?

There are regular meeting reports from the TPS. In May 1929 the TPS President was Mr R Petterd (but I wonder if this was Tom Petterd, father of Jim as he was also listed as Exchange superintendent) and meetings were held in the A.I.F. Club.In June 1929 it meets at the Trades Hall (Davey Street?)

The 9th Annual Meeting was held in February 1929 suggesting that the Society began in it's current form in 1920.Mr Pat Malone was noted as having won a medal at the Fourth Australian and New Zealand Philatelic congress for his display of VDL re-entries and also a gold medal at the International Exhibition in Durban for hisTasmania. Oh to be able to see it now!

There is a detailed description by Pat Malone on how to plate the 4d. Courier issues.
