Does anyone have a list of Slogan Cancels used to advertise/promote Federal Elections or "Voting is Compulsory" types?
I am looking for any used in Australia up to the 1960s.

I am also looking for Federal Elections related Mail and ephemera, 1901 to 1960s.

And since the Australian Electoral Commission was responsible for the Identity Card system during WW2, and for issueing the Ration books/tickets, anything of that kind is also desired. I am particularly looking for an Identity Card with the M or the F for Male or Female filled in by hand (manuscript) instead of printed on the card. Cards were printed without the M/F on it, in case the Issueing office ran out of blank cards with the correct gender printed on. I have not seen one actually used.

The best general reference I know for Slogan Cancells is R. C. Occleshaw, "Australian Slogan Cancells 1917 - 1990", and "The Commemorative and Short Term Markings", both published by Magpie Publications. Do you know these references ? There appears to be nothing listed related to voting that I can find, however. Was there actually such a slogan cancell ?
I may have a post card from the electoral Office somewhere. I will have a look.

I should add that as this Bulletin Board is all about Tasmanian Philately any replies are most likely going to be limited to Tasmanian material

I have located two different "Voting is Compulsory" type slogans but they from the 1970-71 period so may not be of interest.I will only show a scan of one here given its not in the preferred time frame.
The other slogan reads "Com'lth Elections Voting Compulsory"

Firstly apologies for posting something non Tasmanian but i have these Elector's right's from various states but have never seen one from Tasmania can a collector please post one here thanks.

This one from Victoria is the only State i have seen with a 6d fee added does any collector know why only Victoria had this fee?

thanks for posting this item Dave ..... I have never seen a Tasmanian example nor knew
that such an item may exist.

Can you advise period of use on mainland states, whether stamp duty varied, for which
types of elections they were applicable and so on? Any info will assist, especially as the
Tasmanian Archives Office is about 100m from my computer (not including ride in lift).

My only thought as to the reason this attracted a fee, is that, it is a 'Residential Qualification’.
My EKD is 1880 the Victoria one above is my LKD at 1924. So with 40 years in-between these dates one would think we would be swamped with them.

PS Ross what’s you 'fee' for an archival search? And do you issue a 'fee' revenue stamp for this service?
