New member with a Tas Side Face Challenge!

#1 Post by Rob » Wed Sep 16, 2015 9:23 pm

Hi, I'm Rob in the UK, and have recently started collecting Tasmanian stamps. I have a 9d blue sideface which I cannot locate in SG and would appreciate any info/advice...

Stamp appears to have a 1906 postmark
Watermark has crown, not TAS, but is unclear as to whether a V or an A with the crown
The perfs appear to be 12 on 3 sides and 12.5 on the RH side.

Any comments welcome.... thanks, Rob

Rob,

SG 242 is V over crown, issued from April, 1903. There is also the Crown over A (SG 256) but SG says this not issued until 1907.

Images are a great assistance. I use photobucket and it really is very easy, the hard bit is the learning. http://photobucket.com/learn/upload

Welcome aboard.

Hi Rob

welcome to the online forum - I hope you find the information you seek.

re uploading images, yes it's important to illustrate a query but please don't use 'Photobucket'
as John suggests above as we prefer members to upload images directly to this site. There is information
about how to do this included in the second category on the site frontpage.

If you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me via the forum e-mail facility

best regards

Guys, thanks for the comments. I don't think it's SG 242 as the perfs are wrong, and, assuming not a fake postmark, it's too early for the 1907 Crown/A issue. I'll now attempt to upload a pic... hopefully in correct format/size.... appreciate any further thoughts....regards, Rob
