TASMANIAN COMMUNITY POSTAL AGENCIES - A LISTING

As a list of Tasmanian Community Postal Agencies (CPAs) is apparently unavailable from Australia Post,
I have had a bit of a 'hit and miss' search using the 'locate a post office' function on the AP website
..... this is what I have discovered so far. There are CPAs currently operating at:

ADVENTURE BAY
BRONTE PARK
BUCKLAND
BUSHY PARK
CAMBRIDGE
COLEBROOK
COLLINSVALE
DERWENT BRIDGE
EDITH CREEK
GRASSY HARBOUR
GREENS BEACH
GRETNA
GRINDELWALD
LORINNA
MOUNT DIRECTION
MURDUNNA
OPOSSUM BAY
POATINA
PRIMROSE SANDS
RACECOURSE CRESCENT (Launceston)
ROSSARDEN
SAVAGE RIVER
SEVEN MILE BEACH
SISTERS BEACH
SOUTHPORT
SULPHUR CREEK
WINDERMERE
YOUNGTOWN

If you know of any others, please report them in this topic .... also
any opening dates (exact or approximate) if known.

Also, if you have any contemporary datestamp impressions from any of these
CPAs, please post them in this topic. Most if not all of these CPAs should have
a datestamp in use.

North Motton closed recently. Grassy is another you can add. In the 2009/2010 financial year there were 29 in Tasmania. Current list is 26+Grassy+North Motton=28

29

1 remote(grassy)
22 Country
6 Urban

Missing one extra somewhere

What constitutes a business being known as a CPA in Tasmania.Locally I know that the Sidmouth shop acts as an agent of Australia Post. What criteria needs to be met?

List amended (above) ...can anyone locate the "missing CPA"?

I found this information on the Australia Post website (19.4.2011)

I found the missing one! I was driving to Hobart Airport recently and noted a sign indicating
that there is a CPA at CAMBRIDGE. It makes sense when considering the large shopping complex
at Cambridge Park and all the businesses in the surrounding industrial estate.

(above list amended)

Does anyone have any other updates ...openings, closures?

Very few CPA's appear to have been issued with a datestamp .... I can recall the datestamps used at NORTH MOTTON and SULPHUR CREEK however I have not seen this example from the BUCKLAND CPA before.

Updated list of Community Postal Agencies (30)

Adventure Bay, Arthurs Lake, Bronte Park, Buckland, Bushy Park, Cambridge, Derwent Bridge, Colebrook, Frankford, Grassy Harbour, Greens Beach, Greta, Grindelwald, Lorinna, Miena, Mount Direction, Murdunna, Opossum Bay, Poatina, Primrose Sands, Prospect Market Place, Racecourse Crescent, Rossarden, Seven Mile Beach, Sister's Beach, Southport, Sulphur Creek, Waverly, Wayatinah, Youngtown

Closed CPAs include Collinsvale, Edith Creek, Fern Tree, Savage River, Windermere

Of those listed above Buckland, Cambridge, Mount Direction, Poatina, Rossarden (two different), Sulphur Creek have or have had date stamps - Cambridge appears to be the most recent. I expect Prospect Market Place will also.
Others I have visited didn't have date stamps - Arthurs Lake, Colebrook, Derwent Park, Frankford, Grindelwald, Miena, Racecourse Crescent, Savage River (letter), Waverly, Windermere, Youngtown. Derwent Park may once but did not in 2018.

Many years ago (around 2007) I spoke to the proprietor at Colebrook who had applied to Australia Post for a date stamp and was refused.
So unlike other states the issuing of date stamps to CPAs in Tasmania had not been automatic.
