Yes, the photographs of the Exhibition were taken by R J Nicholas. I'm guessing that he was the 'official photographer'.
It is interesting to note that the artist Gladstone Eyre, who painted four portraits for the Tasmanian Court at the Exhibition, was under engagement to Nicholas and had his artist's studio in the Nicholas studio in St Johns Street. The four portraits were of S J Sutton, the Mayor of Launceston; Mrs Sutton the Mayoress (her official title as the wife of the Mayor); George Horne, Manager of the National Bank; and Mons. Jules Joubert.
Eyre's paintings were regularly displayed in the shop front of the Nicholas studio.
