When I saw this listed on eBay recently, I thought that it looked a bit familiar.

...and then remembered that in my most recent online auction I sold this item - this is the only
2½d Platypus multiple that I can recall :cry:

Pity when greed destroys a nice looking item (which may have been the only known example of type),
especially when removing the date of use.

A few 2½d Platypus pairs have survived as they were used to make up 5d stamp duty in the late 1950s
and early 1960s. Cheques bearing a pair of 2½d Platypus exist.

the destruction of an inwards 'Via Panama' cover is particularly disappointing :cry:
